Every time my child makes a choice that endangers their own life, my heart asks the same quiet question: Where did I go wrong? Did I fail as a mother?

That question gets louder when the child I love turns their anger on me, blames me for their mistakes, and lands in a situation that terrifies me.

Then I remember: I raised a person with their own mind, their own will, and the freedom to choose their own path.

"I cannot live their life for them. Their choices are theirs, not a measure of my love."

I cannot live their life for them. Their choices are theirs, not a measure of my love. I may not agree with every decision, but I will never stop loving them.

A mother's heart can be wounded and keep hoping, praying, and waiting with unconditional love.

I get more when I choose connection over control. Letting go of the outcome I want is what makes room for the outcome I need: connection.
