If your teen or young adult is struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or identity, chances are most of your energy is going toward finding help for them. But who is supporting you?
Support for parents matters. When you're resourced and grounded, you show up better for your child. There are four types worth knowing about.
"When you're resourced and grounded, you show up better for your child."
Four Types of Parent Support
-
1
Self-Care
Walking, reading, being with friends, yoga — anything that replenishes you. Easy to skip when you're in crisis mode, but your wellbeing is important.
-
2
One-on-One Support
A therapist or parent coach dedicated entirely to you. A consistent, private space to process what you're going through.
-
3
Support Groups
There is something uniquely healing about being with people who already understand what you're carrying. Many treatment programs offer groups, and independent options exist online and in person. Visit my resource page at peacefulheartcoaching.com for specific recommendations.
-
4
Education
Understanding what your child is dealing with helps you respond with clarity instead of fear. Ask professionals for recommendations and check my resource page for books and tools I've found helpful.
Where to Start
